Starlink Mini price history: $599 at launch (Jun 2024) to $149 (Oct 2026)

The Starlink Mini launched in the US at $599 on Jun 20, 2024. On Oct 2, 2026, starlink.com cut it to a “starts at” price of $149, with a Roam plan and no end date stated. In between, it sold for $449 on Black Friday 2024, $229 for holiday 2025, and $199 from January 2026. Every sourced Mini price has been lower than the one before it, which is not true of the Standard kit. Here’s the full record, the gaps in it, and how store prices compare.

Every row is in our price-drop table and downloadable as a CSV. We call the Oct 2 price a list-price drop rather than a sale because no end date was stated; the glossary explains the difference.

2024: launch at $599, then a Black Friday sale

TechCrunch reported the US launch on Jun 20, 2024 at $599, the same as the Standard kit’s list price at the time. Five months later, starlink.com’s Black Friday sale cut it 25% to $449, from late November to Dec 8, 2024 (Tesla North).

2025: a gap, then $229 for the holidays

Here’s an honest gap: our sources don’t record the Mini’s list price for most of 2025. By January 2026 a report described its list as $249, so it fell somewhere in between, but we can’t date that change with a source we trust. The chart shows the gap with dashed lines rather than inventing a step.

What we can source: starlink.com’s holiday 2025 price of $229, from Nov 11, 2025 to Jan 19, 2026 (RV Mobile Internet). Stores matched it: Walmart had the Mini at $230 by Nov 11, 2025, and Home Depot at $229 by Nov 17. Black Friday 2025 in one table has every row.

2026: $199, installments, then $149

Jan 20, 2026: $199. The day after the holiday price ended, the Mini went on sale at $199 against a $249 list (RV Mobile Internet). No end date was published.

Jul 28, 2026: $199 or $16/mo. RV Mobile Internet reported the Mini’s first payment plan: $199 up front or $16/mo for 12 months, with a Roam plan, and the balance due if you cancel early. Our log treats $199 as the list price from this date. That plan ended Oct 1, 2026.

Oct 2, 2026: from $149. Tesla North reported the cut, and starlink.com’s Roam listing showed it: a “starts at” price of $149, or about $12.41/mo for 12 months, with a Roam plan. When we checked on Oct 5, no end date was stated. What the $149 price includes breaks it down.

The “was” price dispute: $249 or $199?

You’ll see the $149 cut described as “down from $249” in some places and “down from $199” in others.

• For $199: RV Mobile Internet’s Jul 28, 2026 report put the Mini at $199 (or $16/mo), and our log carries that row through Oct 1.
• For $249: a January 2026 report called $249 the list price behind the $199 sale, and Tesla North’s August 2026 coverage of the free Mini perk mentioned buying the Mini outright for $249.

Both could be partly right: a $249 list price with $199 as a long-running sale or installment price, for example. We can’t settle it from our sources, so we don’t print a “was” price next to $149. That’s also why we don’t advertise a percentage discount. If Starlink or a primary source settles it, we’ll update the table.

The installment line: $16, then about $12.41

The Mini is the only Starlink kit in our log with a monthly payment option, and that has its own short history:

Twelve payments of $16 come to slightly less than the $199 up-front price, and twelve of about $12.41 come to about $149, so the plan spreads the cost rather than adding to it, as far as the listing shows. The early-cancellation balance rule is from the July report; whether the same rule applies to the October terms is something to confirm at checkout. A separate price line: the free Mini rental

Since early August 2026, Residential Max customers can get a Mini as a no-charge rental. That’s not a point on this chart, because it isn’t a purchase price: Starlink keeps the Mini, and it’s tied to the $130/mo Max plan. It does matter if you’re comparing, because for someone who already pays for Max, the effective hardware cost is $0. For everyone else, buying from $149 is the comparison. In holiday 2025, stores matched starlink.com within a dollar. In October 2026, three days after the cut, they were about $100 above it. That’s a pattern worth knowing: store tags follow starlink.com’s prices, sometimes quickly (holiday 2025) and sometimes not (October 2026). We have no record of how long store lags last and don’t forecast them. If you’re buying a Mini at a store, check both prices on the day; Home Depot and Best Buy have the details.

That last row matters if you’re timing a purchase. For the Mini, waiting for the holidays has never beaten the price that followed. For the Standard kit, last year’s holiday price was below today’s list. The Standard kit’s price history has its full record.

What the history does and doesn’t tell you

What it shows: a product that has only become cheaper on starlink.com, in steps, at different times of year; payment plans arriving in 2026; and store prices that sometimes lag.

What it doesn’t show: whether $149 is the floor, whether a holiday 2026 sale will go lower, or when stores will match. We don’t predict any of those. If you’re deciding whether to buy now or wait, our decision table works through it without guessing.

Common mistakes reading Mini price history

• Quoting old prices as current. Articles saying “$229 Mini deal” or “$199 Mini” describe prices that ended.
• Taking a “was” price at face value. The pre-cut price is disputed.
• Ignoring the plan condition. The $149 and installment prices come with a Roam plan.
• Assuming stores match automatically. On Oct 5, 2026 they didn’t.

What we don’t know

• The Mini’s list price through most of 2025.
• Which “was” price ($249 or $199) is right for the day before the cut.
• Whether $149 has an end date.

Checking today’s price yourself

1. Open starlink.com’s Mini page and go to checkout for the address where you’ll use it. “Starts at” prices can differ by address or option.
2. Note the date next to any price you compare, including ours (checked Oct 5, 2026).
3. Check one store on the same day if you’d rather buy in person, and compare like for like: a bare Mini kit, not a bundle.
4. Check the plan line. The price comes with a Roam plan; Roam 100GB was $55/mo on Oct 5, 2026.
