Wait for Black Friday 2026 or buy the $149 Mini now? A decision table
Today's price and its conditions, what the last two holiday seasons actually offered, the return window as a safety net, and an honest list of what nobody knows yet.

Key takeaways
- The Mini has been from $149 on starlink.com since Oct 2, 2026, with a Roam plan and no end date stated.
- That's already below last season's holiday price ($229, Nov 11, 2025 to Jan 19, 2026) and the 2024 Black Friday price ($449).
- Nothing has been announced for Black Friday 2026 (Nov 27) as of Oct 6. We don't forecast prices, and neither should anyone selling you urgency.
- If you need a Mini before late November, buy now. If you can wait and will check again in mid-November, waiting costs little, but nothing is promised.
- For a Standard kit the record leans the other way: last holiday's $279 was below today's $349.
If you want a Starlink Mini, buying now at $149 is reasonable: that price, on starlink.com since Oct 2, 2026, is already below every holiday Mini price on record, $229 last season and $449 in 2024. Waiting for Black Friday (Nov 27, 2026) makes sense only if you don’t need the Mini before then and you’re willing to check again in mid-November, knowing nothing has been announced. For a Standard kit, the record leans the other way.
Today’s price, and what it comes with
| Detail | |
|---|---|
| Price | From $149 (“starts at”), or about $12.41/mo for 12 months |
| Since | Oct 2, 2026 |
| Seller | starlink.com |
| Condition | A Roam plan (from $55/mo for 100GB, checked Oct 5, 2026) |
| End date | None stated |
| Status in our log | Live, checked Oct 5, 2026 |
“Starts at” means your checkout can show more, depending on your address or options. Sources disagree on the Mini’s price immediately before the cut ($249 or $199), so we don’t print a “was” price. What’s certain is the sequence: $199 (or $16/mo) from Jul 28, 2026, ended Oct 1; from $149 on Oct 2. The full breakdown is in what the $149 Mini price includes.
What past holiday seasons actually offered
| Season | Mini price | Dates | Seller |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black Friday 2024 | $449 (25% off $599) | Late Nov 2024 to Dec 8, 2024 | starlink.com |
| Holiday 2025 | $229 | Nov 11, 2025 to Jan 19, 2026 | starlink.com |
| Holiday 2025 | $229 | By Nov 17, 2025 | Home Depot |
| Holiday 2025 | $230 | By Nov 11, 2025 | Walmart |
| After holiday 2025 | $199 (against $249 list) | From Jan 20, 2026 | starlink.com |
Two seasons isn’t much data. But one thing is clear from the table: every holiday Mini price on record is higher than today’s. Waiting for Black Friday to beat $149 means waiting for something that has never happened before. It could happen. The Mini’s history is a staircase going down: $599 at launch, then $449, $229, $199, $149. But each step happened at a different time of year, not reliably on Black Friday. The decision table
Buy now if…
- You need it before late November. A trip, a move, a hunting season, an outage. A price you might get later doesn’t help if you’re offline in the meantime.
- A Roam plan suits you. The $149 price comes with Roam. If that’s the plan you’d choose anyway, the condition costs you nothing.
- You’d rather not track prices. Checking starlink.com and two stores every few days through November takes time. Last season’s prices ran for ten weeks, so there’s no single day to catch, but there’s also no guarantee there will be a season.
Waiting is reasonable if…
- You don’t need it until December or later. Holiday 2025 prices ran into January.
- You’ll actually check in mid-November. In 2025, the first holiday prices appeared on Nov 10 and 11.
- You accept the outcome either way. If November brings nothing new, you buy at whatever the price is then. It could be $149, lower, or higher. We don’t know.
Look at a different offer if…
- You’re getting Residential Max for home anyway. Since early August 2026, starlink.com has offered a Mini as a no-charge rental to keep with Residential Max (start date reported between Aug 7 and Aug 11). It’s a rental you return, and Max is the most expensive Residential plan ($130/mo, checked Oct 5, 2026), so it’s only a deal if you’d choose Max regardless. Free Mini with Residential Max has the details.
The return window: a safety net, not a guarantee
Starlink gives a full hardware refund if a kit ordered on starlink.com comes back undamaged within 30 days. That limits the downside of buying now. It is not a price-protection policy. We couldn’t source any Starlink policy that refunds the difference if the price drops after you buy, so don’t assume one exists.
If you buy now and the price drops inside your 30 days, the only path we can describe is a return under the normal policy. Before doing that, think about the details: whether service on your account is affected, whether a new order would carry the same terms, and the hassle of shipping. We can’t promise how Starlink support would handle a return-and-reorder, and we don’t recommend opening extra accounts to get around rules.
For Standard kit buyers, the record says something different
The Mini’s current price is its lowest ever. The Standard kit’s isn’t. Its list price has been $349 since Oct 7, 2024, but it has been lower several times since, always temporarily:
- $279 in holiday 2025 (Nov 11, 2025 to Jan 19, 2026 on starlink.com, with a Roam plan; Home Depot sold the kit alone at $279 by Nov 17).
- $175, half off nationwide, Aug 11 to Sep 12, 2025.
- $89 in low-demand areas from Sep 13, 2025.
- $0 with a 12-month commitment in select areas, Apr 30 to Jun 25, 2025.
So if you want a Standard kit, can wait, and your current internet works, checking again in mid-November has more support in the record than it does for the Mini. Also check whether starlink.com offers your address a $0-up-front rental; that’s not a holiday price, and it may be the cheapest way to start.
A worked example
Morgan wants a Mini for an RV trip in February. No rush. Today’s price is from $149 with a Roam plan. Last holiday’s Mini was $229. Morgan can either buy now and stop thinking about it, or check in mid-November and buy then. Either way Morgan pays the price on the day; the difference between the two choices is unknown. The only cost of waiting is attention. The only cost of buying now is the chance that a lower price appears. If Morgan buys now and a lower price appears within 30 days, the return policy is there, with the caveats above.
Sam’s home internet died yesterday. Sam needs a connection this week. The decision isn’t close: buy now, or check whether a $0-up-front rental is offered at Sam’s address.
If you buy now: check these at checkout
- The price for your address. $149 is a “starts at” price. Make sure your checkout shows it before you pay.
- The plan. The price comes with a Roam plan. Roam 100GB was $55/mo and Roam 300GB $80/mo when we checked on Oct 5, 2026; after the high-speed allowance, service drops to low-speed data for the rest of the billing period. If you need more, read what to settle before checkout.
- Pay in full or installments. The listing shows about $12.41/mo for 12 months as an alternative. Our installment guide covers what happens if you cancel early.
- Where you’re buying. On Oct 5, 2026, Home Depot listed the Mini at $249 and Best Buy at $249.99. Buying the Mini at a store this month costs about $100 more unless the store has matched.
Common mistakes in the wait-or-buy decision
- Comparing today’s price with last year’s headlines. “$229 Black Friday Mini” pages still rank in search. That price ended Jan 19, 2026, and it’s higher than today’s.
- Treating a pattern as a promise. Two holiday seasons with sales don’t guarantee a third.
- Forgetting the plan condition. A cheap kit on a plan you don’t want isn’t cheap.
- Waiting while offline. If you need the connection now, the value of a hypothetical November discount is small next to weeks without internet.
- Buying the Mini at a store at $249 to “lock in” a holiday kit. The online price is lower today.
Ignore countdown pressure
You’ll see “Black Friday Starlink deal: ends tonight” headlines in November. Our log has two seasons of holiday Starlink prices, and both lasted weeks, not hours. Any site that claims to know a sale is coming, or claims a current price is about to end, is guessing unless it cites Starlink. We will add a dated row to the deals log the day a source shows a change, and strike through the $149 price with its end date if it ends.
What we don’t know
- Whether Starlink will run a 2026 holiday sale, and on which products.
- Whether the $149 Mini price will change before, during or after November.
- How Starlink handles a return-and-reorder after a price drop.
What to do next
The Black Friday page will list 2026 offers as they’re announced, with dates and sources. For the Mini itself, the Mini deals page tracks today’s price, store prices and the history in one place. Our holiday 2025 timeline shows exactly when last season’s prices started and ended.
Questions people ask
Will the Starlink Mini be cheaper on Black Friday 2026?
Nobody outside Starlink knows. As of Oct 6, 2026 nothing has been announced. The Mini's current price, from $149, is already lower than any Black Friday Mini price on record ($229 in 2025, $449 in 2024).
Is $149 a good price for the Starlink Mini?
It's the lowest Mini price in our records, which go back to its $599 launch in June 2024. It's a 'starts at' price with a Roam plan, so check what your checkout shows.
When is Black Friday 2026?
Friday, Nov 27, 2026. Thanksgiving is Nov 26 and Cyber Monday is Nov 30. In 2025 Starlink's holiday prices started on Nov 11, well before the day itself.
What if the price drops after I buy?
Starlink gives a full hardware refund for an undamaged kit returned within 30 days of a starlink.com order. We couldn't source any Starlink price-adjustment policy, so a lower price later isn't automatically refunded.
Should I wait for Black Friday to buy a Starlink Standard kit?
If you can, the record gives more support for waiting: the Standard kit was $279 in holiday 2025 (with a Roam plan on starlink.com, or kit-only at Home Depot), below today's $349. That's history, not a promise.
Does the $149 Mini price end soon?
No end date has been stated. Our log will strike it through with a date if it ends.
