What changed
satelliteinternet.com reported on May 5, 2026 that new Starlink customers could get the Residential 100 Mbps plan for $29 a month for their first three months, against a regular $50 at the time. The dish came as a free rental; customers paid shipping. Free professional installation was offered in some locations.
Eligibility was limited to new customers in regions with spare capacity. After three months the plan returned to the regular price.
The promo was short. The same source noted it was available until May 10, 2026, and our log records it as ended on that date.
"New Starlink customers can get a subscription for as low as $29 per month for the first three months of service."
Who it affects
New Residential customers in qualifying areas who ordered between May 5 and May 10, 2026.
Not existing customers, and not people in high-demand areas.
People who saw the offer in an article after May 10: by then it had ended, even though some pages kept describing it.
What you can do now
Nothing to do now: it ended. If you signed up, your promo period ran three months; check your bill to see when the regular price started. Since May 16, 2026, the regular price of that plan is $55, not $50.
For why a deal you read about may not be at your checkout, see deal expired or regional only.
When a new promo appears, three checks save trouble: the end date of the promotional price, the price it rolls onto, and whether the dish is rented or bought. This one answered all three (three months, regular price, rental), which isn't always the case.
What hasn't changed
The dish was a rental, as with other 2026 promos: it goes back if you cancel.
Context
It was the third spring 2026 Residential promo in our log, and the cheapest: $39 a month for six months in March, $35 in April, then $29 for three months in May. Each was limited to areas with spare capacity, and each came with a rented dish rather than a kit to keep.
Eleven days later, on May 16, 2026, Starlink raised its regular prices, the 100 Mbps plan going from $50 to $55. A customer who joined at $29 in early May would leave the promo after three months onto a higher regular price than the one advertised beside the offer.
What we don't know yet
- Whether customers who joined at $29 rolled onto $50 or $55 after the May 16 price change. The sources we have don't say.
- Which areas qualified; Starlink doesn't publish the list.
