What changed
GearMusk reported on Apr 2, 2026 that Starlink had dropped the entry Residential plan, 100 Mbps, to $35 a month from $50, with the dish provided as a rental at $0 up front. The faster tiers were also cut: 200 Mbps to $65 a month and the top tier to $105, per the same report.
The offer was regional: only areas with excess network capacity qualified, and high-demand metros were excluded. It ran through the end of April 2026.
The report put the saving at $60 over the promotional period on the base plan.
"SpaceX is providing the dish as a rental, a practice it quietly normalized last year"
Who it affects
New customers in spare-capacity areas who ordered in April 2026.
Not people in congested metros, who saw neither the price nor the $0 rental.
Existing customers: the report described an offer for new orders, and we found nothing showing existing customers were moved to $35.
What you can do now
Nothing to do now: it ended Apr 30, 2026. If you joined at $35, check when your promotional period ends on your bill.
Regional offers like this come and go; our deals log keeps the dates, and this page explains why an offer can be missing at your address.
When you see a regional promo, enter your exact service address rather than a nearby town; eligibility is decided cell by cell, so neighbors can see different prices.
Screenshot the checkout page showing the promo price and its duration before you pay. If your bill doesn't match, that record is what support will ask for.
What hasn't changed
The dish was a rental. Starlink's 30-day return window and the return-on-cancel rule for rentals were unchanged.
Context
It followed March's $39 offer and came before May's $29 offer, three spring promos in a row, all in areas with spare capacity. Shortly after it ended, regular prices rose on May 16, 2026: the 100 Mbps plan to $55, 200 Mbps to $85 and Max to $130.
The $0 hardware rental was the bigger change for some households. In 2025 Starlink's free-kit offer needed a 12-month commitment; this one just needed you to keep the plan, and to return the dish if you left.
What we don't know yet
- Exactly which areas qualified.
- Whether the promotional price lasted four months, as GearMusk's savings figure implies, or ended with the month. The report mentions a four-month period; we haven't seen Starlink's own terms.
