What changed
Tesla North reported on Sep 13, 2025 that SpaceX had cut the Standard kit to $89 in select parts of the United States, 75% below the usual $349. It was the lowest price for the Standard kit on record.
New customers in those areas could also lock in lower monthly prices for their first year: Residential Lite at $59 instead of $80, and Residential at $85 instead of $120.
The offer applied only in low-demand regions; Starlink doesn't publish which.

Who it affects
New customers in areas with spare capacity, in September 2025.
Not customers in busy areas, who were more likely to see surcharges than discounts.
People choosing between Starlink plans at the time: the discounted first-year prices applied to Residential and Residential Lite, the plan names in use in 2025.
Customers who already owned a kit: the price applied to new hardware purchases only.
What you can do now
This is background. The plan names and prices have changed since (Residential Lite no longer appears in our fact file), and most new Residential customers now rent the kit.
See price drops for how $89 compares with every other kit price, and deal expired or regional only for why regional prices vary.
To see whether your address gets a regional price today, enter it on starlink.com and read the hardware line before any plan choice; prices can change with the address, not just the date.
Write down the date you checked. Regional prices change without notice, so a dated note is the only way to compare later.
What hasn't changed
The Standard kit's national list price stayed $349.
Context
September 2025 had two kit offers back to back. The half-off $175 sale ran nationwide until Sep 12, and the next day the $89 price appeared, but only in low-demand areas. Together they marked the low point for Standard kit prices before Starlink moved new Residential customers to rentals in June 2026.
Regional pricing is how Starlink balances its network. Areas with spare capacity get discounts to attract customers, while congested areas get one-time surcharges when you buy, activate or move in. The same dish can cost $89 at one address and carry a surcharge at another.
What we don't know yet
- When the $89 offer ended; no end date was published.
- Which areas qualified.
- How long the discounted first-year plan prices lasted for people who signed up; the source described them as first-year prices.
