What changed
Starlink began listing the Mini kit at $149 on Oct 2, 2026. Tesla North reported the cut the same day from a customer email, and the national listing on starlink.com that we read on Oct 5, 2026 showed the same "starts at" price, or about $12.41 a month spread over 12 months. No end date is stated; the email only says that price and availability may vary.
The price just before the cut is disputed, so we don't print a "was" price. Tesla North describes the cut as $100 off the usual $249. RV Mobile Internet reported on Jul 28, 2026 that starlink.com was selling the Mini outright for $199, with a $16-a-month payment plan. Both can be true at different addresses or on different days; we can't confirm which figure every US shopper saw on Oct 1.
Either way, $149 is below every Mini price in our price history: the Mini launched in the US at $599 in June 2024, sold for $229 over the 2025 holidays and reached $199 in January 2026.
"The discount takes $100 off the usual price of the portable dish"
Who it affects
New Mini buyers on starlink.com in the US. The Mini needs a service plan to work, usually a Roam plan for travel, and the kit price is separate from that monthly bill.
Store shoppers. On Oct 5, 2026 the Home Depot and Best Buy Mini listings we saw in search results were still around $249, so the Mini was about $100 cheaper on starlink.com that day unless a store has matched since. Those store prices came from search snippets, not the product pages, so they're marked "unclear" in the log.
Recent buyers. If you bought a Mini at a higher price in the last 30 days, Starlink's 30-day return window may matter more to you than any price-match policy; we found no Starlink price-adjustment policy.
What you can do now
Check the Mini price at checkout for your own address before you buy; it's a "starts at" figure.
If you're choosing between a store and starlink.com, run both prices through the store vs starlink.com comparison. If you bought recently, look up your return window first.
What hasn't changed
Roam plan prices are unchanged by this cut. Monthly service is billed separately from the hardware, and the Mini still needs an active plan.
What we don't know yet
- How long $149 lasts. No end date is stated, and the Black Friday season is a few weeks away.
- Whether Home Depot, Best Buy or Walmart will match it, and when.
- Which "before" price applied at most US addresses on Oct 1, 2026: $199 or $249.

The catch: It's a "starts at" price. Sources disagree on the price before the cut ($249 or $199), so we don't print a "was" price.
