Price cards: the Mini list price fell from $299 to $249, and on Jan 20, 2026 starlink.com put it on sale at $199 to buy outright.

What changed

RV Mobile Internet reported on Jan 20, 2026 that the Mini was on sale for $199 on starlink.com, the cheapest price to buy it outright directly from Starlink up to then. The same article said the Mini's list price (MSRP) had been lowered from $299 to $249.

The $199 price was for buying the kit, not renting it. No end date was published; our log closes the row when the price was replaced.

For context, the Mini launched in the US at $599 in June 2024 and sold for $229 over the 2025 holiday season.

"The Starlink Mini is on sale once again for just $199"

Who it affects

Mini buyers in January 2026, especially RVers and boaters buying ahead of spring travel.

Store shoppers: store Mini prices at the time weren't part of this sale.

RVers and boaters on Roam plans, who are most of the Mini's buyers; the sale lowered the cost of a second, portable dish for households that already had Residential service.

Anyone who bought a Mini at $229 in the first weeks of January 2026: within Starlink's 30-day return window, a return and rebuy might have been possible. Starlink publishes no price-adjustment policy that we found.

What you can do now

This is background. The Mini is $149 on starlink.com since Oct 2, 2026; see Mini deals.

The full step chart of Mini prices is on price drops.

If you're deciding now, the comparison that matters is starlink.com's current price against store tags; on Oct 5, 2026, Home Depot and Best Buy Mini listings we saw in search results were around $249.

What hasn't changed

Roam plan prices weren't part of this sale.

The Mini still needed a service plan; the sale covered hardware only.

Context

This sale followed the 2025 holiday prices, under which starlink.com sold the Mini for $229 from Nov 11, 2025. Our log closes the holiday price on Jan 19, the day before this $199 price appeared.

Two price points moved at once here: the everyday list price and the sale price. A lower list price matters more over time, because future discounts tend to be measured from it. The list price was $249 at this point; by July 2026 the Mini was $199 with a payment plan, and since Oct 2, 2026 it's $149.

What we don't know yet

  • When exactly the $199 sale ended. No end date was published.
  • Our price history has no dated point for the $299 list price the article mentions; we're looking for one.
